Great Things to Hear This Holiday Season in Denver, CO

The holiday season is all about reconnecting with family and friends, and spending quality time with your loved ones. All around the city you’ll find amazing events that you can enjoy with the whole family, and get into the Christmas spirit. Here are some of the fabulous Christmas events you definitely don’t want to miss this December.

The Nutcracker Ballet, November 24- December 24

Whether you’ve seen The Nutcracker before and can’t wait to experience it again, or want to discover what all the hype is about, the Colorado Ballet is continuing their yearly tradition of bringing you the magic of Christmas. This 58th annual production will feature over 100 dancers, and 300 costumes, along with Tchaikovsky’s wonderful music performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. All performances are at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Don’t miss out on this Denver tradition, and share the excitement of ballet with your loved ones.

The Colorado Symphony Holiday Performances, December 7 to 16

The Colorado Symphony is bringing you a wealth of Christmas cheer this year with 3 amazing performances to help you get in the holiday spirit.

December 7 and 8 you can head over to the Boettcher Concert Hall for A Classical Christmas, showcasing Christmas classics from selections of Handel’s “Messiah”, to Holst’s “Christmas Day”, and Berlioz’s “L’enfance du Christ.” This concert is for every classical music lover who wants to hear the Christmas classics live.

On December 9, the Colorado Symphony will team up with Australia’s rock stars of the opera, the world famous Ten Tenors! They’ll be performing both contemporary and traditional holiday tunes, from captivating renditions of “Joy to the World” and “Amazing Grace” to fun performances of “Feliz Navidad” and “Winter Wonderland.” You definitely won’t want to miss the Ten Tenors on their American tour.

December 14 and 16 are the final performances of the Symphony for this year. A Colorado Christmas will feature the Colorado Symphony Chorus and the Colorado Children’s Chorale in a festive concert. From traditional carols to your favorite holiday tunes, this concert will be fun for the whole family.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas

From December 5 to 15, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Buell Theatre brings you’re the holiday classic, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. This musical tells the story of two former soldiers and two singing sisters who decide to put on a show in a magical Vermont inn. Love is in the air, and this timeless story of Christmas cheer is full of dancing, laugher, and wonderful holiday music.

A Christmas Carol, November 21 to December 24

A Christmas Carol is perhaps one of the most loved Christmas stories of all times, and this year you can share it with your loved ones at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This joyful and extravagant musical adaptation of the Christmas classic will have you laughing and crying all evening. It’s a moving story of redemption, as Ebenezer Scrooge sees his past, present, and future in a heart-warming story that reveals the true meaning of Christmas.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is an accessible venue, and if you have trouble hearing, you can request a personal captioning device. This hand-held tablet will provide you with captioning of the show, and can be used from any seat in the venue. Ask for more information at the Patron Services desk, and be sure to bring your ID so you can check out a tablet.

A Bing Crosby Christmas Cabaret Tribute, December 19

The Vintage Theatre, Aurora, is thrilled to present Leonard Barrett Jr. and Rekha Ohal in this tribute show to legendary star. His recording of “White Christmas” is one of the best-selling singles of all time, and while you can’t hear Bing Crosby live anymore, this concert will bring you the magic of his music as you take a trip down memory lane.
